How far is LJY Reflexology from Donelson?

About four miles, which runs roughly ten minutes in ordinary traffic. Lebanon Pike leaves Donelson heading east and carries straight on into Hermitage, and our door at 3877 is on that same road. No interstate, no turns worth memorizing.

The airport is on this side of town too. From the terminal it is something like five miles and twelve minutes, so a chair session before an evening flight is realistic rather than a sprint.

Parking and finding the door

Parking is free in the lot outside the door. No meter to feed, no garage to circle, nothing for the front desk to validate — which is most of why a twenty minute booking stays a twenty minute errand. The address is 3877 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN 37076; if you are in the lot and cannot spot the sign, call (615) 835-2603.

Which days run late

We are open seven days a week, but not for the same stretch each day. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday run 10 AM to 8 PM. Tuesday is the short day, 11 AM to 4 PM. Sunday opens at noon and closes at 7 PM. Those five long days are the ones worth planning an after-work session around.

What can you book in 20 or 30 minutes?

Five, and every one of them is a full appointment rather than a sample: chair massage at 20 or 30 minutes, foot reflexology or table massage at half an hour, and the couples room at 30 minutes for two people side by side. Prices run from $35 to $120 depending on which, and the table below has them all.

What twenty minutes in the chair covers

Neck, shoulders, upper back and arms, while you sit in a chair with your clothes on. You keep your shirt on, there is no oil and no table, and you walk out able to go straight back to work or straight to a gate. It is the booking that survives a lunch break, and the one people add on a day they had not planned to stop at all.

When the half hour is the better buy

The 30 minute chair session and the 30 minute foot session cost the same $50, so the extra ten minutes over the shortest booking buys either more of the same or a completely different treatment. If you have been on your feet since morning, spend it on the feet. If the tightness is above your collarbone, stay in the chair.

Chair massage or foot reflexology?

Pick by where the ache is. The chair reaches the neck, shoulders, upper back and arms — the parts that stiffen behind a desk, a wheel or a counter. Foot reflexology is firm pressure on the feet, ankles and lower legs, which is what people book after eight hours of standing.

Reflexology carries a much older tradition than it does a research record. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health publishes evidence reviews on massage, acupuncture and tai chi; there is no equivalent body of trials behind reflexology. So nobody at this desk will tell you a foot session does anything above the ankle. We describe it as firm pressure on tired feet, which is the part we can stand behind.

Under an hour the prices sit close together, so the question is which part of you had the day — not which service is cheapest.

  • On your feet all shift, arches aching: book the foot reflexology.
  • Desk, phone, steering wheel: book the chair.
  • Both, with an hour to spend: Combination B is 30 minutes on the feet plus 30 minutes in the chair for $80.
  • Someone coming with you: the couples room has two tables side by side, from $120 for the half hour.

How late can you book on a weeknight?

On the five days that close at 8 PM, a full hour has to start by 7 PM and a half hour by 7:30 PM. Sunday's last hour starts at 6 PM. Tuesday closes at 4 PM, so that one is a lunchtime day rather than an evening one.

Appointments run through Square, which shows the times that are genuinely open. Calling (615) 835-2603 is quicker when you already have the day and the length in mind.

  1. Pick the length first: 20, 30, 45 or 60 minutes, plus a few minutes either side to arrive and settle.
  2. Count backwards from the 8 PM close on Monday and Wednesday through Saturday.
  3. Book on Square, or call (615) 835-2603 and say the day and the length.
  4. Drive east on Lebanon Pike and park in the lot outside the door.

Does a 20 minute massage do anything?

For the rest of that evening, most people would say yes. For a problem that has been building for weeks, the research is fairly clear that you should expect less from a short session than a long one, and less from one appointment than from several.

The tidiest number on that comes from a 2014 trial of 228 people with chronic neck pain, summarized in NCCIH's digest of what the science says about massage. Over four weeks, participants were assigned to 30 minute visits two or three times a week, or to 60 minute visits one, two or three times a week. The finding was that 60 minute massages given several times a week beat the shorter and less frequent schedules.

Read straight, that is an argument for the hour when you have a specific complaint. It is no argument at all against the twenty minute chair session on a day when what you want is to feel less wound up before dinner.

How many people get a massage now

About one adult in nine in a year. National survey data put 10.9 percent of US adults using massage therapy in 2022, against 4.8 percent in 2002, according to NCCIH's massage therapy overview, which is more than double the share it was twenty years earlier.

What a short session is not

It is not medical care, and we do not assess or diagnose anything here. NCCIH's 6 things to know about massage therapy closes on the practical point: therapists should take precautions with certain health conditions, so ask your own provider whether massage is safe for you. NCCIH's tips add the other half — do not use massage therapy to postpone seeing a health care provider about a medical problem. If something has hurt for weeks, or wakes you at night, start with a clinician and book the chair afterwards.

What happens on a first visit?

You arrive, you say what hurts and how hard you want it worked, and the clock starts. For the chair you stay dressed. For a foot session you take off shoes and socks and sit back. For a table massage you undress as far as you are comfortable and stay under the sheet, the same as any studio.

Tell the therapist about anything recent — surgery, an injury, a pregnancy, a blood thinner — before the session rather than halfway through it. Pressure is adjusted as soon as you say something, and nobody is offended by being told to ease off.

If you would like the full menu before you pick a length, the services page lists all seven treatments with every length and price, and the Old Hickory page covers the longer table sessions in more detail.

Questions people ask

How far is LJY Reflexology from Donelson?

About four miles, or roughly ten minutes in ordinary traffic — which makes it the closest massage near Donelson that is not a chain. Lebanon Pike runs east out of Donelson straight into Hermitage, no interstate involved, and the studio sits at 3877 Lebanon Pike with free parking in the lot outside the door.

How much is a 30 minute massage?

It depends which one. Chair massage and foot reflexology are both $50 for the half hour. A table massage is $60, and the couples room, which holds two tables side by side, is $120 for 30 minutes covering both people.

Is 20 minutes long enough to be worth it?

For loosening the neck and shoulders before you get on with your day, most people find it is. For a complaint that has run for weeks, the research points at longer and more frequent sessions: a 2014 trial of 228 people with chronic neck pain found that hour-long massages given several times a week beat shorter or less frequent schedules.

Do I have to undress for a chair massage?

No. You sit in a chair with your clothes on, with no oil and no table, and the work covers the neck, shoulders, upper back and arms. Nothing comes off and there is nothing to shower afterwards, so it fits either side of a working day.

How late are you open on weeknights?

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday we close at 8 PM, so a full hour needs to start by 7 PM. Sunday runs noon to 7 PM. Tuesday is the short day at 11 AM to 4 PM. Call (615) 835-2603 to check what is still open tonight.

Can I fit a massage in before a flight?

The airport is roughly five miles from the door, something like twelve minutes, so a 20 or 30 minute chair session before an evening flight is realistic. Book it on Square with enough room for parking and security, and park free in our lot on the way past.

Should I book online or call ahead?

Either works. Square shows the appointments that are genuinely open, which is useful if you are flexible on the day. Calling (615) 835-2603 is faster when you already have a time in mind, and it lets you say the length as well as the day so the right slot is held for you.
